Race Registration: 

Fluidlines HQ (Friday 17 October 12h00 - 17h00) 

We will have registration at our offices in Strand on Friday and ask the locals or those in the area to come past and register. This will ease the load on Sunday morning.

Please do not be late for registration!  We have many swimmers attending the swim and we need to get everyone registered, body marked and ready to swim quickly.  We ask that you do not leave it for the last minute to arrive.

At registration your entry will be confirmed and you will receive a goodie bag, you will be body marked on your left hand with your race number. If you register on Friday or Saturday you will need to come and be body marked on Sunday morning at registration.

Bathroom facilities are available at both starts; The Yacht Club in Gordon's Bay Harbour and the Gordon's Bay Boat Angling Club at the slipway at Harbour Island.

LATE ENTRIES

We will allow late entries on the day. There are limited slots still available and will be handled on a first come first serve basis. There will be an entry link available at registration which you will need to complete and an indemnity signed before we can issue you a race number. 

Late entry cut off time is 08h00 on race morning for the individual events.

Teams can be entered up until 30 min before the event. You  will need to complete the entry form available at registration.

Timing 

Time will be done manually via your race number on your hand. It is important that you are body marked if you want to receive a time. When exiting the water please wait until we have captured your number before proceeding up the skipway.

Water Safety

The Life Savers are there for your safety and will be moving up and down the field keeping an eye on you. They are not your lead out and as such you should not follow them but rather follow the  swim course as shown below for the various distances.

Parking

The parking layout is as per the image below. Start by filling up the GREEN section and then the RED and the over spill is the YELLOW section. There will be a parking official guiding you, please listen to them and be considerate to other competitors.

For the 1.6km swimmers.

Your goodie bag can be used to transfer your car keys and a small amount of clothing back to Harbour Island. You will hand in your bag to the Harbour2Harbour crew at the start (Gordon’s Bay Harbour), and your bag will be brought back to Harbour Island waiting for you at the finish line, where you will collect it after your swim. Your race number and tag number need to correspond before your bag is handed over to you. The collection point is the Gordon's Bay Boat Angling Club at the slipway at Harbour Island.

Once registered, you need to make your way to the swim start at the Gordon’s Bay Harbour which is approximately 2km’s from Krystal Beach Hotel. If you are struggling to get transport to Gordon’s Bay from Harbour Island, Kelfords has kindly made a bus available to drop you off. Space is limited so get there early.

The Swim

Race briefing will be held at 8h45 at Gordon’s Bay Harbour Slipway. The swim is a water start, so you will swim out to the start point in front of the NSRI building and be set off at 9h15. Heading out of the harbour turn slightly left to pass the Orca marker buoy on your right shoulder. Note that the harbour mouth has silted up so it might be shallow as you exit the harbour and turn left. Once you are around this first buoy head in the direction of Harbour Island.Once you reach the last marker buoy you will turn right and head through the boat marker poles (red and green) and head for the harbour mouth. There will be flags flying to make sighting of the harbour entrance easier. Once you reach the harbour mouth you will turn right around the buoy keeping the buoy on your right shoulder heading towards the slipway where your time will be recorded. You will then receive your medal and collect your bag if you handed it in. Your race number and tag number need to correspond before your bag is handed over to you.

For the 3 km swimmers.

Your goodie bag can be used to store your car keys and a small amount of clothing while you are swimming. The drop off and collection point is the Gordon's Bay Boat Angling Club at the slipway at Harbour Island. You will hand in your bag to the Harbour2Harbour crew at the start and your bag will be waiting for you at the finish line, where you will collect it after your swim. Your race number and tag number need to correspond before your bag is handed over to you.  

The Swim

Race briefing will be at the slipway of Harbour Island at 8h45. The swim will start at 9h00,  you will swim out of Harbour Island and then turn left around the big Orca buoy and head towards Gordon’s Bay harbour where you will turn right at the buoy, keeping the buoy on your right hand shoulder at all times. At the next buoy turn right and head back to Harbour Island, keeping the marker buoys on your right. Once you reach the last market buoy you will turn right and head through the boat marker poles (red and green) and head for the harbour mouth. There will be flags flying to make sighting of the harbour entrance easier. Once you reach the harbour mouth you will turn right around the buoy keeping the buoy on your right shoulder heading towards the slipway where your time will be recorded. You will then receive your medal and collect your bag if you handed it in. Your race number and tag number need to correspond before your bag is handed over to you.

Relay Swim

Race Registration: Krystal Beach (10h30 - 11h00)

At registration your entry will be confirmed and you will receive a goodie bag should you have entered either the 1.6KM or 3KM you will not receive a second goodie bag. Your team captain will receive 4 bands, each band represents the swimmers sequence; Yellow: 1st swimmer / Blue: 2nd swimmer / Orange: 3rd swimmer / Green: 4th swimmer.

The swim

Race briefing will be held on the deck in front of registration at the Krystal Beach Hotel at 11h15.  The 1st swimmers will make their way on to the jetty and enter the water. No diving or jumping into the water is allowed, your team will be immediately disqualified should you do so. The race will start at 11h30 in line with the Orca buoy. The swim is in a clockwise direction around the island, and once the first swimmer (yellow band) has started their swim, the second swimmer (blue band) will make their way on to the jetty and can enter the water when they see their team mate, and wait for them at the Orca buoy. The first swimmer will then swim around the Orca buoy keeping it on their right, touch the second teammate who will then start their loop, and then proceed to the exit jetty. The third and fourth swimmers will repeat the process and the final swimmers position and time will be taken when they touch the buoy. For purpose of clarity, there will only be one team member allowed on the jetty at all times. The details will be explained at the race briefing.
